Lesley Howard is no newcomer to the art and craft of real estate. The South Carolina native was inspired by both her mother and her aunt to pursue art and architectural design classes while in high school. Graduating cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a continuing education in interior design, Lesley began the pursuit of her lifelong dream by freelancing – creating design and construction drafting for home additions and renovations. She soon took a job with a real estate development company in their architectural design department, drafting complete sets of working drawings for entire homes. She later worked with Ernst & Whitney as a graphic artist for hospital locations. Lesley eventually landed in South Florida in the mid-1980s, where she began a very successful career selling coastal homes and property. A top real estate agent in her firm for more than a decade, Lesley was honored to receive the title of “Realtor Associate of the Year” from the local Board of Realtors. Annual summer vacations to the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau with her sons ultimately led to a permanent move, as Lesley traded the heat and fast-paced Florida lifestyle for the mild climate and leisurely way of life promised by the mountains of western North Carolina. It was here that she immediately felt accepted by the “natives.” Over the course of the past decade, Lesley has worked with the renowned architectural design firm Greene & Associates, and has built a solid reputation as a Realtor, often achieving the ranking of number one agent in both sales and listings. When not hard at work matching buyers with sellers or on the hunt for the perfect site for a client’s dream home, Lesley enjoys playing golf at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley or traveling. She can often be found beaming with pride over her sons – Alex, a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Intelligence Department, and Zack, an accountant with Price Waterhouse in Charlotte, NC. Lesley’s background in interior design, architecture, and real estate, paired with her zeal for helping others find their own little slice of heaven along the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau, make her an integral part of the Landmark Realty Group team. Realtor Karen Sullivan knows all about making transitions. When she moved to the Cashiers area in 2005, she exchanged her city life in Atlanta for the more laid-back and personal lifestyle of the mountains of Western North Carolina. And while some might think it a culture shock, the move has given Karen great insight into what people are seeking when they relocate to or look for a vacation home in the greater Cashiers area. “Our area and communities offer a refuge for many. We’ve got a fantastic climate, if they’re looking to get away from the heat of a Southern summer, and we’ve got nature in abundance, offering a peace and tranquility you won’t find anywhere else. Many people search for a diversion to life’s mundane routines and living or vacationing in Western North Carolina is anything but mundane.” Indeed, real estate opportunities in Cashiers, Glenville, Lake Toxaway and Sapphire offer something for everyone. Whether you’re a boating enthusiast looking for lakefront property with a dock or an avid outdoors person hoping to find your enchanted cabin in the woods near hiking trails and trout streams, Karen will help you find it. Backed by thirty years’ of sales experience, Karen can help you navigate the process of buying or selling a primary residence, resort or vacation home in the mountains. She is also a certified Distressed Properties Expert experienced in short sales and foreclosures. Karen’s sales achievements include being recognized as an Outstanding Sales and Transaction Leader and serving as a member of the Highlands Cashiers MLS Committee for the past two. She is also an active member of the community, participating in the Cashiers Rotary Club and the Order of the Eastern Star, as well as having previously served on the Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Karen lives in Cashiers with her husband, John Sullivan, a licensed contractor, custom-home builder and owner of Sullbark Builders. Both take every opportunity to enjoy the area amenities, including boating and swimming on Lake Glenville and Lake Toxaway, hiking to the area’s numerous waterfalls, enjoying the company of family and friends at one of the area’s fantastic restaurants, and traveling both near and far, including visiting her grandchildren in Georgia and Arkansas. Still, no matter how far she roams, Karen always looks forward to coming back. She knows you’ll feel the same, too, when you come home to the mountains, where life is good.
