Dick Hattler was born and raised in the Republic of Panama and is fluent in Spanish. Moving from Panama to Coral Gables in the 1960s, Dick graduated from the University of Florida, where he met his wife. He then started his career as a real estate appraiser with a group of MAIs in Miami. In 1975 Dick and his wife Debby started Western Hemisphere Realty, specializing in US real estate sales to foreign investors. Dick moved into a commercial real estate lender career in 1980 with the significant lending department of First Federal (aka AmeriFirst Federal). He went on to become the Senior Vice President and Chief Lending Officer. In the 1990s, Dick returned to his real estate career roots with a real estate investment firm with offices in Miami and Geneva, Switzerland. Selling investment real estate with a specialization in triple credit net leased investments throughout the US, Dick and Debby decided to move to the Highlands/Cashiers area, where they had been spending their summers for years. Dick's parents were founding Wildcat Cliffs Country Club members, so they felt they had roots here. Eager to stay involved in real estate, Dick and Debby have been leaders in the local real estate community.
